$Whether you're a solo business traveller, a romantic couple exploring the city, or a couple of friends crossing Canada by rail, I've got you covered. My place is walking distance to restaurants and fashion shops, the University of Winnipeg, RBC Convention Centre, and downtown, and has great transit options including direct routes to Health Sciences Centre, MTS Centre, Via Rail and the airport. Hardwood floors, glass handles and wood moulding around door and window frames give you a glimpse into the luxurious age when it was constructed, 1929. That's why I chose antique Art Deco waterfall furniture for your bedroom so your stay is something special compared to modern cookie cutter hotel rooms. Out the Eastern window of your room, you can see the Golden Boy atop the Manitoba Legislature glistening in the morning sun. The second-floor views of the streetscape in midtown offer endless amusement. I provide free Shaw Go Wifi for visitors with thousands of Wifi points in the city. You may save on international data rates. Instructions on how to get free city-wide Wifi are in the house guide. This listing boasts an incredible Walkscore of 93. Close to home, feel safe knowing there is security patrolling the building. The suite is outfitted with air ionizers which help to purify the air of dust, allergens, odours and bacteria. A robotic vacuum helps me to keep it squeaky clean. Check-in time is officially 6 PM and later, but most of the time I can accommodate an earlier check-in if my schedule allows. You will have access to the living/dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. The front entrance has an electric code for check-in and you will use a provided key for the remainder of your stay. Just like any hotel, the host may enter the common areas of the suite at any time to check on supplies and prepare for a new guest’s arrival, and one must assume that the other guest or host may be present in the common area at any time. Absolute privacy is reserved for your listing bedroom alone. A coin operated laundromat which includes full service wash and fold is a three minute walk away. There are two listed bedrooms on the opposite ends of this suite, and so you may be cohabiting the central common area with another guest or two. Our guests enjoy meeting one another, thought-provoking conversations over coffee in the morning and exchanging travel tips. I live a 10-minute walk away if a need arises. For breakfast, I will provide the essentials you need to get your day started, like cereal, toast, spreads, coffee and tea. Fresh items like milk and fruit are available for purchase across the street. West Broadway is an eclectic, vibrant, sometimes gritty, multi-income area. We have hipsters and homeless, students and seniors and are a multi-ethnic neighbourhood. We're proud of our old architecture, mature trees, a new skate park and community gardens. The commerce found here includes amazing restaurants, bakeries and chocolatiers, fashion, and really good coffee. Like many downtown neighbourhoods in Canada, we have our share of traffic noise, homeless, and the need for extra awareness when walking at night. Neither I nor my guests have ever had a single problem. If our schedules allow, I am able to pick you up from the airport for a flat rate of $15 (compared to a taxi, $20). I have plenty of bus access from the front door of my place. Transit connects you with the airport and the Via Rail station without transfers. Ridesharing apps are also available. On foot, you can be downtown Winnipeg in 8 minutes. The University of Winnipeg and The Manitoba Legislature are both 6 minutes by foot. Parking is time-limited M-F 9-5 and free. If you move your car during the day you won't have an issue. Further away from this central location, a less than 20-minute drive will bring you to Ikea, Seasons of Tuxedo Outlet Mall, the University of Manitoba, casinos, medical specialists; in fact, most parts of the city! Long-stay guests of 30 days or more between September and April will enjoy weekly cleaning service in lieu of complimentary breakfast ingredients. This building is old. Part of the charm that comes with a character-building is the creaks of the floor or traffic/pedestrian sounds through thin windows, gurgling steam radiators, and wear from age. We are located in a safe, multi-ethnic and multi-income neighbourhood. Winnipeg has a high visible homeless population and the building is patrolled by security rotation. While I and my many stellar reviews would like to convince you it's perfectly safe, central and a great value, you should book elsewhere if the presence of homeless, or an old-timy apartment building, will cause you to feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Please contact me if you are a light sleeper or if you have allergies, as a tiny fraction of guests found it to be an issue or required special food precautions. I have indicated that my suite is safe for children, but please note that I do not have any children's accoutrement and you will need to bring that yourself. Additionally, during the cold months, my home is heated by steam radiators that can burn skin if the rad is carelessly touched. It is up to you to determine if this is a safe space for your children.$

$Have you ever walked through a mall and thought how neat it would be to live above one? Here at Sky Crib, you've directly plugged into the Winnipeg Skywalk; access Portage Place Mall and downtown without having to step outdoors! We host a well-equipped room with a private ensuite bathroom. Even though you'll share the rest of the suite, you'll feel like you're at a hotel! Complimentary coffee, tea and cookies and a 42-inch Smart TV with cable and streaming services will keep you entertained. The queen bed has 450 thread count sheets and a feather duvet for breathable warmth and a pillow top mattress. As you can see in the photos, there are lots of fixtures allow you to set the mood. The shower pressure is phenomenal and the bathroom is directly connected to the bedroom, giving you maximum privacy. Access our kitchen for home cooking if you so desire. I've been hosting for over a year at another property and I know how to make a guest feel comfortable and cared for. The building is safe with keyless entry and security on site. Check-in time is officially 6 PM and later, but most of the time I can accommodate an earlier check-in if my schedule allows. Guests have access to the kitchen and in the warmer months, our garden balcony welcomes you to bask in the prairie sun, surrounded by flowers and great views. International guests will love that I offer free Shaw Go Wifi with thousands of points across the city. You may not have to purchase a sim card and data. When you're in your room with the door closed, we will be discreet and give you privacy. In the common space, I'd like to ask you about your day and am always happy to give advice on where to check out next. You may also share the space with another guest in the other bedroom if we are house sitting. Downtown Winnipeg is the financial centre of the city. We're directly connected via the Skywalk to the major banks, Investor's Group, laser eye treatment, conference centres, and the RBC Convention Centre. A little further brings you to City Hall, the Legislature and the music halls. By using the Skywalk, you may not even need to put on a jacket or bring an umbrella for the majority of your visit. Day and night there's a plethora of restaurant options, including a diversity of ethnic tastes. If our schedules allow, I am able to pick you up from the airport for a flat rate of $15 (compared to a taxi, $20). We're located right downtown. On top of the Skywalk that allows pedestrians to walk in a tee-shirt in the dead of winter to many locations, guests have unsurpassed access to transit options to anywhere in the city including the airport and Via Rail...right from the front door! Vehicle parking is available on the street, surface lots or heated parkades and generally, it is metered. There is free street parking overnight. Park your car for as low as $6/day and enjoy the free 'Spirit' bus downtown. Like many downtown neighbourhoods in Canada, we have our share of those living on the margins of society and the need for street-smarts and extra awareness when walking at night. Neither I nor my guests have ever had a single problem, and I've lived downtown for a decade. A well lit and patrolled entrance to the apartment through the Portage Place mall is available until midnight, and there are good transit and ride-share options as well. As you can tell from my many reviews, this generally isn't an issue for my guests. However, if you know a large population of street dwellers will make you feel uncomfortable or otherwise impact your visit negatively, I'd suggest you book outside the downtown or mid-town neighbourhoods. Please contact me if you have allergies, as a tiny fraction of guests found it to be an issue or required special food precautions. Please note that light sleepers may take some getting used to the sounds of the city, such emergency sirens. We include a white noise machine and you may wish to bring earplugs. On some rare occasions, we rent out the accompanying bedroom called Country Crib to other guests. Both rooms have private bathrooms.$
